According to the 2014 Engineering UK report, a mere 1 in 6 eleven to sixteen-year-olds said that they knew what people working in Engineering do! With such a shocking statistic related to an industry crying out for budding Engineers in the run-up to 2020, it's about time they found out just what our sector is all about!

Tomorrow's Engineers Week (#TEWeek14) is a week-long initiative that takes place from 3-7 November 2014 and aims to change perceptions of engineering among young people (focusing on 11-14s), their parents and teachers.

The week celebrates the everyday engineering heroes that design, create and innovate to improve our lives.

Launched by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) in 2013 in partnership with the engineering community, the first Tomorrow's Engineers Week involved over 70 engineering organisations, 65 events or local activities and over 200 schools.

This year the Tomorrow's Engineers Week campaign, led by EngineeringUK with the support of the engineering community and BIS, will use social media as well as traditional PR to shine the spotlight on engineering.

Highlights will include:
• The benefits of engineering careers to young people;
• The opportunities for young people to experience these careers and to become the everyday engineering heroes of the future;
• The many engineering jobs available to young people, especially girls.
