PRESSURE TEST RIG
Application:
To design a system to simulate 10 years of aircraft fatigue induced by changes in altitude. The system was required to pressurise and depressurise all voids within the aircraft and be accurate to within 0.1psi at all stages of the operation. A very high level of safety was required, to prevent any potential damage to an aircraft through over pressure. The input control signal would be sent via a PLC and the operation would be recorded.
Solution:
A control system was designed using products from our key partner suppliers Burkert and Fairchild. To quickly and accurately pressurise the aircraft voids, the Fairchild 200XLR series volume boosters were installed in the system and a command signal was sent via a Fairchild I-P converter. The safety and final depressurisation of the system was dealt with by using a number of Burkert air operated and solenoid operated valves.
